The Library and Center for Study for the purpose of storing and recording the genealogical history of the Hacker's Creek area in Lewis and surrounding counties. Feel free to come and visit, research your WV roots, listen to stories, or just read a book on the history of our area. See and experience early Appalachian life at the boyhood home of Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. The Historic District includes the following: The Jackson Family Mill Museum, The Blaker Grist Mill (still fully operational), The McWhorter Cabin, Mountain State Heritage Center and The Mary Conrad Cabin. Guided tours are offered of the Historic area. You are also welcome to visit our general store, sit on the porch for a spell, feed the friendly ducks, or enjoy our refreshing lemonade. This magnificent hand-cut stone winery features the best vintage wines of our area. It features winery tours and free wine tastings. Relax in the beautifully landscaped grounds including the pond and waterfall area or in the breezeway featuring a huge hand-cut stone fireplace. Browse the gift shop, featuring local pottery, wine accessories, hand-woven baskets, herbs and blends, jellies, and jams. Create your own gift baskets, or purchase our ready-made baskets. Finding yourself looking for something to do on Saturday or Sunday afternoon? Try the go-kart races, located in Lewis County on Murphy Creek Road. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. Races start at 7:00 p.m. This dirt track is great fun to watch and/or race on in one of two classes: Super Kart and Poor Boy. New karts/racers are welcome. Not a racer? Just come and watch the family fun for all ages.

Located in both Lewis and Upshur counties, this lake is the home to some of the best Musky fishing in the state. There are many different fish that make Stonecoal their home besides the ever-famous Musky, including Walleye, Bass, Trout, Carp, and Catfish - all furnishing fish up to trophy size. Currently holding two state records for Muskies caught within her waters, this is a MUST fishing spot for any avid fisherman. On the Lewis county side of the lake, there is a handicap accessible parking lot and fishing dock, as well as a boat ramp. Hours: Dawn to Dusk.

Being the newest lake and park in the state, The Stonewall Jackson Lake State Park has more to offer than meets the eye. The Visitors Center beneath the Stonewall Jackson Dam is full of interesting displays and information from around the area. The foot of the dam is also an excellent fishing hole, especially for trout. There are many superb fishing spots/holes on and around the lake allowing you to enjoy year-round fishing. The park also offers public hunting lands perfect for obtaining that trophy buck, squirrel, duck, bear or turkey. The park is home to Stonewall Resort, The Briar Point Campground, and The Stonewall Marina. Not to mention that this park has some of the most picturesque scenery in our state. Every fall the park hosts "The National Hunting and Fishing Days" allowing everyone to explore the park and both sports by attending seminars, classes, children's activities, vendors, and everything else imaginable that concerns either sport. Located in the Historic Colored School of Weston, we welcome you to experience some of the United States Military's unique moments at our museum. See the history come alive through a soldier's eyes. Our exhibits cover military history locally as well as abroad. There's lots to see and learn when visiting. Hours: Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5p.m. All other days by appointment only.

Recently featured on the sci-fi channel's hit show "Ghost Hunters". (click here to view episode). Located in the heart of Weston, this historic building is a must see. It stands as the largest hand-cut stone building in North America and is a testament to both architectural and medical history in the treatment of the mentally ill. Both historical and ghost tours are available for the public and special events are held on the grounds thoughout the year. Call for dates and times. TALA now is available for special events.
