This is the newest lake, park and ranked the #1 lake in the state for bass fishing. Stonewall Jackson Lake is the only lake in West Virginia in the 100 top lakes to fish for bass. The foot of the dam is an excellent fishing hole, especially for trout. There are many superb fishing spots/holes on and around the lake allowing you to enjoy year-round fishing. There are also several boat launches placed around the lake for easy access. Every fall the park hosts "The National Hunting and Fishing Days" allowing everyone to explore the park and both sports by attending seminars, classes, children's activities, vendors, and everything else imaginable that concerns either sport.
Located in both Lewis and Upshur counties, this lake is the home to some of the best Musky fishing in the state. There are many different fish that make Stonecoal their home besides the ever-famous Musky, including Walleye, Bass, Trout, Carp, and Catfish - all furnishing fish up to trophy size. Currently holding two state records for Muskies caught within her waters, this is a MUST fishing spot for any avid fisherman. On the Lewis county side of the lake, there is a handicap accessible parking lot and fishing dock, as well as a boat ramp. Hours: Dawn to Dusk.
